Hair Regimen

This is what I do to keep my hair healthy. I know that what works for me doesn't work on everyone but this works for me.

1. I wash my hair every 5-7 days with a gentle shampoo. I don't avoid SLS shampoos but I use gentle version for damaged or relaxed hair. Some of the shampoos that I like are Aphogee shampoo for damaged hair, Fructis fortifying shampoo, and Kuz Regenerating shampoo.

2. I apply a mild protein treatment every week. I use Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor or GVP Joico reconstructor (sally's brand).

3. Deep condition...Now this is a step that should not be skipped because it gives your hair the moisture and the strength to sustain some of the heat we apply to our hair keeping your hair healthy. I like Kuz Regenerating cream; Alter ego garlic, Pantene relaxed and natural, Aussie 3 minute reconstructors are some of my favorites.

4. Every 2 weeks I do a protein treatment like Nexus Emergencee or Sebastian’s Penettrait.

5. Leave in conditioner and heat protectant (chi silk infusion), Rollers, and blow out my roots.

Manageable Hair!!!!

So last week I washed my hair and used "Nexxus Headress voluminizing leave in conditioner" and I must say doing my rollers was a nightmare. My hair felt rough and tangled. I knew that the leave in or my new growth was the culprit.

Well this week I switch my leave in to "Herbal Essences long term relationship" and my hair was very soft and doing my rollers was a breeze. But I do not know if it was the leave in or the fact that I applied a Clairol Beautiful color rinse in Amethyst.

Next week I will experiment yet again and see but I loved the way my hair felt today even though I am 2 months post relaxer.

New Growth-ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OK OK we all hate this time...6-8 weeks post relaxer and your hairline and kitchen look absolutely horrific.  Well i know some people may know this!! but i didn't and i am quite excited...The Dekinkulator lol!!!

If you apply QP elasta mango butter or a molding paste you can flatten your naps with a scarf!!!!!
I have David Babaii fibers molding paste and works very well( and smells like heaven).

Apply a bit to hairline and nape and brush (gently people!!!)...put your scarf to sleep and in the morning you wont be disappointed!

Relaxers

The "creamy crack" as some may call it. Is an addiction very difficult to give up but there is a way to have healthy relaxed hair and keep it that way. I take the following steps on relaxer day so everything can go smoothly and I have good results while putting my hair and scalp through less stress. I am sure that there are hundreds of more advice online that I will not mention on this blog but this is what I do...

1. I wash my hair the week before and give myself a protein treatment so that my hair is strong and can sustain the stress from the chemicals...( i.e. Nexuss Emergencee, Sebastian’s Penettrait, Aphogee 2 step treatment).

2. Don't scratch! I don't know why but as soon as relaxer week comes my head is an itchy mess....hold the urge lol

3. Protect previously relaxed hair by applying oil the day of relaxer. I use Affirm protecto even though I don’t use Affirm relaxer. You can also use extra virgin coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil.

4. Follow the instructions on the relaxer kit and make sure to apply the relaxer to the edges and nape LAST. This area is very delicate.

5. After the relaxer is applied and rinsed out thoroughly I apply a light protein treatment. When relaxer is applied to hair the PH level is very high and the hair shaft is wide open. The treatment penetrates fully.

6. Neutralize with a neutralizing shampoo (at least 3-4 washes)....I usually give my hair a color rinse on relaxer day

7. Apply leave in, heat protectant do rollers and dry.
